So how did a professional tennis player and writer land in home design? I was fulfilled and satisfied in my career and was not looking to make any changes but purchasing my last home in 2017 truly opened my eyes, and others, to my hidden talent of interior arts and design. I had briefly lived in and flipped a few homes in the past, but knowing I’d be here for a while with my last purchase, I decided to go all out and make my home my hidden sanctuary. I wanted a space that I looked forward to coming home to each day. So naturally, I started to shop and search for things that not only represented me but would also create an environment that would be calming and inspirational for anyone who graced my doors. What surprised me was that this was not a chore for me, I loved every second of it…and it came naturally. Being a writer and working in production has also helped tremendously with my creativity and thinking outside of the box. I followed no "industry rules" because I believe that designing your home interior is another form of art and art should never have barriers. Therefore, I’d see a piece, big or small, that spoke to me and find a way to make it fit. And through that, mixed metals like copper, silver and gold with different types of woods and marbles…things with texture and life. But I always kept in mind that they all had to flow and work together. When friends and colleagues would come over for the first time, I’d get a kick out of them asking “who designed my house?” Pretty soon my house was nicknamed "The Vortex" because people always got sucked in to staying much longer than they had planned. What’s also helped is that I was born and raised in Philadelphia and lived in NYC, Miami, and now Los Angeles…each city provided a different lifestyle and experience in every possible way. I’ve also spent time in inspiring cities such as Barcelona, Monte Carlo, Amsterdam, Stockholm, Budapest, and the Greek Island of Mykonos. I had no intention of being on this career path, but I follow my passions with full confidence, and this is no different. With the help of Missy, I am passionate about helping you create your own kind of "Vortex" to help you either settle in to your home or get top dollar when you list it.
